UNSPSC Code (UNSPSC)
The category codes the Australian Government classifies its buying under.
The United Nations Standard Products and Services Code is the taxonomy AusTender uses. Australian agencies choose from the AusTender Customised UNSPSC Codeset, a curated subset published by the Department of Finance. Codes are eight digits in four fixed levels: segment, family, class and commodity. Every planned procurement, approach to market, standing offer notice and contract notice carries one, so the codes you register against determine what you see and what finds you. Most agencies tag at family or class level rather than picking a precise commodity code.
